Hakim's movement confirms its adoption of the new governor of Basra: to extend security and enforce the law

     Baghdad / Range

The head of the National Wisdom Movement Ammar al-Hakim congratulated yesterday on the election of As'ad al-Eidani as the new governor of Basra, stressing that he supported the choice of the "independent" character in order to make a qualitative leap in the services that Basra needs.
"As part of our efforts to stabilize the political and administrative situation in our provinces, we supported the selection of independent visual personality As'ad Abd al-Amir al-'Eidani as governor of Basra," al-Hakim said in a statement.
"On this occasion, we extend our sincere congratulations to the new governor, wishing to do everything in his power to serve the dear citizens of Basra, who have contributed much to Iraq," Hakim said.
"We look forward to a qualitative shift in the services that are fair to Basra and its good people who are sacrificed," he said, calling for "a hand in hand for better services, stability and a solid social stability in Basra and other good provinces."
In a related context, the Secretary General of the Wisdom Stream in Basra, Jawad al-Bezouni, said that the province needs to implement strict measures to impose security in Basra.
"The priority of the new governor, As'ad al-Eidani, is to extend security and impose the law on everyone. What the province suffers from this aspect requires the governor to deal firmly with all armed phenomena," al-Bezouni said in a press statement.
On Sunday, Basrah provincial council elected As'ad al-Eidani, governor of Basra, as successor to outgoing governor Majid al-Nasrawi. Al-Eidani received 24 votes out of a total of 27 members present for the voting session. The other candidates, Riyad al-Eidani and Karim al-Shawak, each received one vote and one empty paper.
Al-Eidani belongs to the National Congress, where he held a senior position in his ranks and was a candidate for the House of Representatives for the rule of law bloc during the elections of 2014.
With the background of the political Eidani, however, Hakim's movement strongly stood behind his candidacy as an independent figure, Previous Maged Nasrawi.
In this context, the civil current questioned the procedures for selecting the new governor of Basra, and criticized the way in which the entire operation was conducted. "All the procedures for selecting the new governor have been improperly carried out, starting with the formation of the committee that is working to receive the candidacy applications, leaking the names of the 37 candidates, and then the unjustified extension to number 54, Candidate, because of the lack of agreement on the blocks on the name of the post of governor of Basra. "
"There were discussions about the selection of an efficient, fair and strong governor, agreed upon by everyone, but some blocs wanted to adopt quotas and change the governor and the head of the provincial council," Zini said in a press statement.
The member of the Council of Basra, "Ten days after the dialogues, we were surprised by the members of the Council, to determine on Sunday a date for the election of the new governor, while we were last Wednesday in a consultative session was agreed that next week we will have the outcome of information on all candidates, A healthy position is being developed on each member, but all of these things have not happened. "
"We were surprised at one o'clock on Saturday night by a letter sent to all the members of the Council showing that on Sunday there will be a session for the election of the governor, this meeting apparently preceded by agreements between the blocks of the National Alliance and in particular the stream of wisdom and advocacy and Badr, There is guidance from Baghdad and agreed among themselves to choose a candidate without returning to the opinion of the masses, which called for the election of an independent, professional and sincere and enjoys the approval of all.
