US President Donald Trump warned North Korea on Tuesday that "all options are on the table" after Pyongyang fired a ballistic missile over Japan.
"The world has received very clearly the last message of North Korea," Trump said in a statement issued by the White House.
"This regime has proved disdain for its neighbors, for all members of the United Nations and for the most basic standards of acceptable international conduct."
The South Korean General Staff said in a statement that the "extruder of an unspecified type" was launched from Pyongyang at 05.57 local time (20.57 GMT Monday), indicating that the projectile was launched eastward and shaved "over" Japan .
The missile was fired over the island of Hokkaido (north) and later landed in the waters of the Pacific, 1180 kilometers east of the Japanese coast, without causing damage to aircraft or ships anchored in the area, the Japanese authorities said.
On Saturday, North Korea fired three short-range missiles on the Sea of Japan, while tens of thousands of US and South Korean troops were engaged in maneuvers on the Korean Peninsula.
