Calls to close the Iraqi-Syrian border

Members of the Anbar Provincial Council called on military leaders to speed up the closure of the Iraqi-Syrian border through an "air force air umbrella" to prevent the flow of elements of an organization calling to the western areas of the province.

"The Iraqi-Syrian border is open and not secured by the military, which necessitates the intensification of 24-hour warplanes and the destruction of the organization's strongholds in the Qaim and Rawah district and on the border between Iraq and Syria west of Anbar," council member Farhan Mohammad told reporters.

"The presence of an air force umbrella for the warplanes will cut off support supplies and prevent them from assigning their cells in western areas of Anbar and contribute to the recovery of their forces and the destruction of their headquarters, which have become open air."

The cities of Anbar are armed attacks and suicide attacks attributed by officials to the infiltration of elements of the organization across the border into the areas of the province.
