Washington will buy a record boost from Russian rocket engines

    22:40 - 04/09/2017

The Wall Street Journal reported that the US technical and economic reality would not allow Washington to abandon Russia's space rocket engines for an additional decade.

She said the Pentagon would not be able to give up Russian engines, despite the insistence of both parties on the need to replace them with US engines. "Many American lawmakers seemed to have given up the Russian engines for security reasons, much more complicated than they expected, despite their wild wishes In replacing these engines with reliable American alternatives. "

"The United Launch Alliance, which is responsible for providing the Pentagon with missile technologies and engines, is likely to continue to rely on Russian engines to launch US space-borne cruise missiles until 2025, while other US sources rule out this before 2028," the statement said.

"Will the American military, based on these dates, have to continue to use Russian engines in light of the tensions and differences between Moscow and Washington," the Wall Street Journal asked.

It should be noted that John Haiten, commander of US space forces, recently revealed that the Ministry of Defense of his country appealed to Congress to allow it to continue to use Russian engines, "R - 180" to launch US space missiles, at least until 2022.

The Pentagon's request came following a Congressional law requiring US space forces to dispose of Russian engines by the end of 2019 and replace them with alternative US engines, while the US space industry was unable to design and test the engine required to date.

What is remarkable is that US space forces are holding Russian engines, that these forces are under unified command, strategic nuclear forces, anti-missile defense forces and space forces.
