    Washington - A new draft resolution on sanctions against North Korea over its nuclear and ballistic missile tests will be circulated by the United Nations Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Nicky Healy, to be voted on by the Security Council next Monday.

    Hely announced the conclusion of an emergency session of the Security Council on Monday over North Korea's latest nuclear tests.

    "Given the urgent situation, the United States will distribute a draft resolution imposing new sanctions on North Korea," the US envoy said.

    "We will distribute a draft resolution on North Korea this week and ask for a vote on it in the Security Council next Monday," she said, without elaborating on the draft resolution.
