[ltr]Washington has submitted to the Security Council a draft resolution to impose new sanctions on North 23[/ltr]
    [ltr]Follow up of Mawazine News[/ltr]
[ltr]WASHINGTON - The United States has circulated to the rest of the UN Security Council a revised draft resolution to impose an eighth package of sanctions on North Korea, diplomats said.[/ltr]
[ltr]The text is expected to be final and to be put to the vote at the meeting of the Council on Monday at the request of Washington.[/ltr]
[ltr]Diplomats said the revised version provided for a "gradual" ban on oil supplies to North Korea, rather than a complete and immediate ban, as was required by the US draft resolution, which was published Wednesday.[/ltr]
[ltr]It also includes the ban on the import of North Korean textiles by UN member states, as Washington essentially wants.[/ltr]
[ltr]The sources said that after difficult negotiations with Beijing and Moscow in particular, Washington was forced to soften the original text on the situation of North Korean workers in the world, and to inspect ships destined for North Korea.[/ltr]
[ltr]Among other points that have been mitigated, the United States agreed to remove the freeze on the funds of leader Kim Jong-un.[/ltr]
