US Senate approves Huntsman's appointment as ambassador to Russia

The US Senate has approved the appointment of businessman and veteran diplomat John Huntsman as ambassador to Russia to fill a vacancy, as investigations into Russian intervention in the US presidential election are expanding.
Huntsman worked during several presidential terms and served as ambassador to China under Barack Obama and Singapore in the era of George HW Bush.
Huntsman, a 57-year-old Asian specialist, was a candidate in the 2012 Republican presidential primaries.
Hentsman, the former Republican governor of Utah, was confirmed as ambassador to Russia during a Senate session, during which he said there was "no doubt" that Russia had intervened in the 2016 US presidential election and that Moscow was still "threatening the stability" of Europe. "AFP".
