(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri, discussed with US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Silliman political and security developments on the Iraqi arena.
"The two sides discussed the repercussions that followed the referendum in the Kurdistan region and the role of the parliament, which seeks to end the crisis and defuse it according to the constitution and the national constants," a statement from the al-Jubouri office said.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives that "return to dialogue and finding outputs of the crisis commensurate with the content of the Iraqi constitution and the interest of the people with all its components and spectra is the only viable solution to this problem."
"They also discussed means of joint coordination in the fight against terrorism and the war against the terrorist and the victories achieved by the Iraqi forces with the start of the battles of Hawija and areas of western Anbar, as well as the file of reconstruction of liberated areas and the return of displaced people."
For his part, the US ambassador expressed "the keenness of the United States to continue support for Iraq, especially in the files of combating terrorism and reconstruction of liberated areas and the return of displaced people, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and continuing cooperation in the consideration of issues of common concern."
