    [ltr]The US House of Representatives is voting on a draft bill imposing additional sanctions on Iran, which is linked to its ballistic missile program, after new sanctions were approved yesterday by Hezbollah.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Three projects were approved without opposition, and under the first, new sanctions are imposed on any entities that prove their support for the party by, for example, providing arms.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The second is imposing sanctions on Iran and Hezbollah for "using civilians as human shields." The third is a resolution calling on the EU to classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"These necessary measures will impose new sanctions related to the funding of Hezbollah and its accountability for acts of death and destruction," said Rep. Ed Royce, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.[/ltr]
    [ltr]US President Donald Trump said on January 13 that he would not see Iran's commitment to an international agreement on its nuclear program and threatened that it would eventually annul the agreement.[/ltr]
    [ltr]US officials said MPs were now focusing on cracking down on Iran in other ways, such as sanctions related to Hezbollah and the ballistic missile program.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The United States listed Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997, and Washington this month offered a multi-million dollar reward to help capture two Lebanese Hezbollah officials, while the Trump administration is formulating a strategy to counter Iran's growing influence in the region.[/ltr]
