A senior North Korean official told CNN that the foreign minister's threat of a nuclear test in the atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean should be taken into account "literally."
"The secretary of state knows very well the intentions of the top leader, so I think you should take his words literally," said Re Yong-bell, a senior diplomat at the North Korean Foreign Ministry.
North Korea's foreign minister, Ry Yong-ho, said last September that Pyongyang might consider "the most powerful explosion" of a hydrogen bomb over the Pacific Ocean.
The threats come amid rising tensions with the United States, against the background of North Korea's conduct of a series of missile and nuclear tests, outweighed by international sanctions
