    Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki assured the utmost importance of Basra province and emphasized the necessity of cooperation between the Local Government in favor of Basra people.Maliki’s media office reported in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The Premier chaired a meeting of Basra Provincial Council in which he criticized the elections law of provincial councils,” stressing that ”The elections law produces us weak governments and thus you should all work together to develop Basra province by providing the required services for its people who suffered war, sabotage and vandalism for decades.””Maliki assured the support of Federal Government for Basra and called the members of Local Government to double their efforts to provide more services to Basra people,” the statement added.”

    The Premier emphasized that the Government will confront and punish the corrupted elements regardless their affiliations,” the statement concluded. \END\
