Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Tuesday that the security forces were able to clean up about 14,000 kilometers from the desert of the island and that a military presence in Iraq would end.

During the weekly press conference, Abadi reiterated his government's commitment to equalize salaries of members of the popular mobilization with their counterparts in the security forces, stressing that "this matter is a priority."

Adding that "what has been achieved militarily against the organization in that region, failed by successive governments a hundred years ago."

Abadi pointed to the recent attack in the Sinai Governorate in Egypt, stressing that "Iraq's vision on the threat of terrorism must be applied on the ground," and called on regional leaders to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.

On the file of corruption, Abadi said "not to refer any person accused of corruption to the judiciary without the end of the investigation with them."
