[ltr]Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said on Wednesday that preparations were under way for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria, and that he would soon be ready to do so.[/ltr]
[ltr]Russian Chief of Staff Valery Girasimov said: "Our forces in Syria have been significantly reduced by the end of this year[/ltr]
[ltr]"When preparations are ready, preparations are already under way," Patrushev said when asked about the timing of withdrawing troops from Syria.[/ltr]
[ltr]General Valery Girasimov, the head of the Russian general staff, had announced in previous quarters that Russian troops in Syria could be significantly reduced by the end of this year.[/ltr]
[ltr]Girasimov explained that there are very few remaining military tasks and of course, this decision will be taken by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.[/ltr]
