The price of oil fell on Monday as US drilling experts increased the number of drilling platforms last week, but prices were not far from their highest level since mid-2015, boosted by a cut in production cuts.
WTI fell 21 cents, or 0.3 percent, to $ 58.15 a barrel at 01:12 GMT.
Brent futures were down 22 cents, or 0.4 percent, lower at $ 63.51 a barrel.
Reuters reported that the number of drilling rigs in the United States rose sharply to 477, the number of active excavators a year ago.
OPEC and non-OPEC producers, led by Russia, agreed to extend the production cuts agreement until the end of 2018.
