    The Washington Post reported Friday that American Jewish billionaire Sheldon Adelson had pushed President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.     "This is mad, we all resisted this decision," the Washington Post quoted one of them as being well-known to Trump from outside the administration.

    "The announcement of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will satisfy its electoral base, so it must do so," she said.

    "The decision has nothing to do with the peace process in the Middle East, and the president has taken it to appease the electoral base," a White House official said.
