    [ltr]North Korea's media chief Geoffrey Feltman, who visited North Korea last week, has shown his willingness to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula, official media reported on Saturday.[/ltr]
    [ltr]North Korea also said in a statement published by the official Korean Central News Agency that the UN envoy acknowledged the negative effects of sanctions on humanitarian aid, adding that he pledged to help facilitate humanitarian assistance.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Meanwhile, the US State Department announced on Friday that the US envoy on North Korea will travel to Japan and Thailand this week to discuss how to increase pressure on Pyongyang after its latest ballistic missile test.[/ltr]

    [ltr]The US State Department said in a brief statement that Josephine, the US Special Representative for North Korea Policy, will travel to Japan and Thailand from December 11 to 15 to meet with government officials "to discuss ways to strengthen the pressure campaign following the latest Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) test launch of a ballistic missile.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"The United States looks forward to continuing its partnership with both countries so that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will return to credible talks on nuclear disarmament," the ministry said.[/ltr]
