Announced a state of high alert within the ranks of the police and Revolutionary Guard throughout Iran to suppress the protests today.

Thousands of Iranians took part in angry demonstrations yesterday to protest against the deteriorating living conditions and high prices in several cities, the largest of which was in the scene of Iran's second largest city.

The protests began with protests against rising commodity prices and the government's move to halt economic support before turning into chants of regime policy.

"Death to the dictator", "Death to Rohani (the Iranian president)", "The moderate government slogans are empty" and "Our house's thief ... a model in the world."

She also condemned the policy of Iranian interference in the region's conflicts and demanded that they be withdrawn, particularly in Syria, Gaza (Palestine) and Lebanon. Some demonstrators accused the authorities of "exploiting religion and humiliating the people".

Riot police used violence to disperse protesters in some areas, using tear gas and hot water pumps to protest.

According to the state-run ISNA news agency, quoting Mashhad governor Mohammad Rahim Nurozian, people were arrested following protests, claiming they "intended to destroy public property during an illegal gathering."
