    Follow-up / Sky Press:

A US military helicopter landed on a hotel floor on Japan's Okinawa island on Monday, the latest incident in a series of incidents involving US military aircraft that fueled the popular opposition to the US presence in Japan.

Japan's Radio and Television Corporation (JTR) reported that the crew of the helicopter had made emergency landing after they had a warning signal, and shots of the helicopter appeared stable on the ground.

Discontent is growing among residents of the southern Japanese island of Okinawa, complaining of what they see as an unnecessary burden to support the US military presence in the country.

Among recent incidents, a US Marine helicopter was forced to land on a beach in Okinawa on Saturday due to a technical malfunction. Before that, a glass window fell from a military plane in a school playground on the island.

Okinawa, strategically located on the edge of the East China Sea, has been under US occupation until 1972. About 30,000 US troops live and work in military bases covering one fifth of the island.
