[ltr]A US citizen, 35-year-old Gerald Wallace, was jailed for 12 months and one day on charges of threatening to shoot worshipers at a mosque in Miami, Florida.[/ltr]
[ltr]The judgment includes Wallace, who lives in Florida also being monitored after his release for 3 years.[/ltr]
[ltr]In October, Wallace pleaded guilty to obstructing the practice of religious belief, leaving a voice mail to the Islamic Center in Miami that contained hateful messages against Muslims, KUNA reported.[/ltr]
[ltr]For his part, US Attorney General Benjamin J. Greenberg said in a statement that "hate crimes violate the basic principles in our country ... Today Wallace was sentenced to deprive worshipers in the Islamic center of the right to practice their religion freely."[/ltr]
