The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, met with the leader of the Israeli-American organization in Doha as part of a national campaign to win the support of the Jewish lobby in the United States to relieve pressure on it.
The newspaper said that the leader of the organization Morton Klein has already headed to Doha and met Prince Tamim in a special session in early January.
The interview took place in the same period in which Doha received American figures known to support Israel, such as Alan Dershowitz and Mike Huckabee.
Klein, who in September rejected a request from the Emir of Qatar to meet him in New York, explained how he changed his mind and decided to go to Doha.
"They have called me more than once in the past four months," he told Haaretz.
"At first I realized that they would not be able to use me in their propaganda campaign, because everyone is actually going there, but I have not seen them," he said. Maybe I used this visit to push them away from their [Qatari] positions on these issues. "
The newspaper revealed a list of Jewish leaders who visited Qatar at the invitation of its emir, including Malcolm Honline, Executive Vice President of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Jack Rosen, President of the American Jewish Congress, Rabbi Menachem Genak, President of the Union of Orthodox Jews, and Martin Olnier, In America, "the last of which was Dershowitz, active on many fronts as a key supporter of Israel.
"The thing that brings together these leaders is that none of them criticizes the right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu or the administration of President Donald Trump in Washington. All of them represent organizations that support Israeli settlements and have expressed their agreement to Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel."
