    Information / Baghdad ..
US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan said on Saturday that his country's troops would remain in Iraq despite the defeat of the criminal "Da'ash" organization, saying it would "not repeat the mistakes of the past" in reference to its withdrawal in 2011.
"Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on December 1 the elimination of the so-called caliphate in Iraq, but this does not mean that it is not a problem," Sullivan said in remarks published by the Saudi daily Asharq Al-Awsat.
He added that "remnants (will be) will remain a problem is ongoing, and we can not overlook them and we can not repeat the mistakes we made in the past when we underestimated the alert, and the withdrawal of US troops completely from Iraq."
A senior general in the Joint Operations Command said earlier that US forces would remain in Iraq during the new year 2018, denying reports that they had left Iraq this year. Ending / 25
