Accountability and justice calls for 620 candidates, including an article ministerA member of the accountability and justice, Faris Baku, on Monday, the Commission summoned the 620 candidates to confirm some of the restrictions and information in their files, including former Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi.
"The issues that called for this number are varied and sometimes relate to the similarity of names between a candidate and a former member of the Baath Party, or with the name of a former repressive organ whose participation is prohibited by law," Bakua said.
According to a member of the Justice Commission, "the name of the former Minister of Defense Khalid Al-Obeidi is mentioned in the summons list and he is required to attend and answer some of the information presented by the subsequent updating operations Files of officials and candidates ".
He denied the extent of the accusations against the accountability and justice, relating to the removal of the names of some former members of the Baath Party in exchange for money paid to some employees, considering that "just charges, no evidence, and who has any evidence of that can lodge a formal complaint and will charge the body responsible for that".
On the issue of some candidates for exceptions to the accountability and justice, Bakoa said, "Exceptions are not the powers of the body, but the powers of the Council of Ministers and the House of Representatives, and previously received former Prime Minister Saleh Mutlaq and Deputy Zafer al-Ani on the exception and participated in the elections."
Article 12 of the Law of the Commission states that "the Council of Ministers has the right to consider exceptional cases of returning to the position of those covered by this law and in accordance with the requirements of the public interest at the request of the competent minister and in coordination with the Commission and take the appropriate decision thereon.
In the May elections, about 7,200 candidates are slated to fill 328 seats in the House of Representatives and have to overcome accountability and justice procedures, as well as not being involved in corruption or court cases of misdemeanors or dishonest cases.
