Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Farid Yassin on Tuesday confirmed a recent rapprochement between Baghdad and Riyadh.
"There was a huge gap between the countries in the region in which we live, but there has been a recent understanding and convergence between them," Yassin said at a seminar held in Washington on stability in Iraq with the participation of the representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
He added that "people from countries have visited Iraq recently, including Saudis have gone to the palm grove in Basra and attended a match between the two teams," saying that the game was influential and contributed to strengthening ties of relations between the two countries.
