US President Donald Trump has said he plans to use military force to protect the US border with Mexico until the "security fence" is built.
"We will do military work there," Trump told reporters at the White House, adding that he discussed the idea with Defense Secretary James Matisse.
US President Donald Trump earlier accused Mexico of not taking any steps to stem the flow of migrants across the Mexican-American border, threatening to cancel the free trade agreement known as NAFTA.
"Mexico is doing almost nothing to prevent people from flowing into Mexico across its southern border and then into the United States," Trump wrote on Twitter. "They make fun of our stupid laws about immigration."
