(Encyclopedia of this Day News | Iraq News ) - Direct: An order of the Prosecutor General in Venezuela arrested 11 senior executives in the largest private bank in the country, at a time when the government is struggling to control rising inflation.

Trek William Saab told a news conference on Thursday that members of the board of directors of Banque Universal would facilitate or conceal "attacks against the currency", including speculating on the exchange rate and smuggling money abroad.

The Venezuelan prosecutor added that these had done great damage to the national economy, pointing out that no one, whether a banker or a trader, can act in this way without being prosecuted.

Panisco is the largest private bank with a total of 20% of total bank deposits in the country.

Venezuela is facing its fourth consecutive year of economic recession as inflation accelerates.
