Abadi leads the popular crowd
General Commander of the Armed Forces Haider al-Abadi took over the presidency of the Popular Struggle Organization instead of Faleh al-Fayadh, who relieved him of his duties as well as the National Security Council.
"The commander-in-chief of the armed forces, head of the popular crowd, Haider al-Abadi, visited the headquarters of the body to see the situation there," a statement from the prime minister's office said.
Abadi praised "the heroism of the fighters in the popular crowd and their sacrifices that have achieved victory over terrorism and continue efforts to build and rebuild the country, stressing his keenness on the rights of heroes and fighters and provide all support for them."
