Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Wednesday told US President Donald Trump that Iraq would not allow its territory to be a field for settling scores, noting that Iraq was protecting embassies of all countries.
"The position of Iraq is clear and does not interfere with the sovereignty of anyone and will not allow any country to interfere in its affairs or breach of sovereignty," Jaafari told a news conference held at the Iraqi embassy in Cairo.
"The administration of US President Donald Trump has to know that the Iraqis have forces that protect everyone, and we will not allow our land to be the field to settle accounts," Jaafari said at the conference in response to the US president.
He explained that "Iraq protects all embassies in it without exception and does not allow anyone to interfere in its affairs."
