(Reuters) - Oil exports from southern Iraq are heading towards a record high this month, bolstering signs of OPEC's second-biggest producer commitment to an oversupply agreement and domestic unrest does not affect shipments, industry sources said.
Exports of southern Iraq in the first 19 days of September were 3.6 million barrels per day (bpd), an increase of 20,000 bpd from August's 3.58 million barrels per day (bpd).
The increase comes after the June agreement between OPEC and its allied producers to boost supply after curbing production since 2017 for a tarnish.
In August, Iraq carried out its second-largest increase in OPEC output as shipments to Iran, facing renewed US sanctions, declined.
A second source in the sector also monitors the shipments that the average exports of the current month of 3.6 million barrels per day thanks to smooth operations in export ports and not affected by the flow of demonstrations and violence in the province of Basra last days.
"There were fears that the protests could reach the port, but so far there is no impact," the source said
