US State Department: We support the demands of Ahwazi workers against the Iranian regime
The US State Department announced its stand with the detained workers in Ahwaz, noting that the Iranian regime is launching a campaign of arrests against them only to claim their rights.
"The Iranian regime arrested the steel workers who simply asked for their salaries for their work, but unfortunately the regime was mistreating the Iranian people," State Department deputy spokesman Robert Paladino said in a tweet on his Twitter account.
"The United States supports their legitimate demands," he said, adding: "The Iranians deserve to live in peace and dignity."
This comes as the human rights organization Ahwaz said that as the protests of workers of the steel company in Al Ahwaz continued to be suppressed by the Iranian security services, they have continued to crack down on them and arrested 41 workers during a raid from Sunday night until Tuesday morning.
