Baghdad - Nas
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iran and Iraq Jennifer Javeto said that the Biden administration believes that its ties with Baghdad are embodied in the joint strategic framework agreement signed between the two countries, referring to Washington's endeavor to work with the Sudanese in the interest of the citizen and ensuring security and stability, indicating that most of the demands of " Tishreen" has not been implemented yet.

This came in an interview by Javeto with the (K-24) news website in Washington and prior to the upcoming visit of the Iraqi delegation headed by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to the United States during the next few days.
Javeto said, "Iraq and the United States, as well as the Kurdistan Regional Government, affirmed the principle of cooperation during the strategic dialogue of the agreement that took place in July 2021, and today we affirm our pledge to deepen and expand the scope of our long-term strategic partnership in key areas."
She added, "President Biden's administration and the US State Department rightly view this agreement as a strong foundation for what we hope will be a deep strategic relationship and partnership for the long term."
Regarding the US administration's relationship with the new Iraqi government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, Javeto said, "We welcomed the appointment of al-Sudani and his government in general and personally, and we also conveyed to the new government our strong desire for a comprehensive government that meets the needs of the Iraqi people."
And she expressed readiness to "work with the new Iraqi government on a wide range of common interests, starting from improving services for the Iraqi people to ensuring a safe and stable Iraq."
Javeto indicated, "The Sudanese has expressed his support for enhancing respect for human rights, increasing opportunities for diversifying the economy, confronting climate change conditions, and fighting corruption. We welcome all these pledges and look forward to translating these pledges into actual implementation."
Three years ago, Iraq witnessed widespread popular protests that caused the resignation of the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi. Javeto summarized the protesters' demands as "revolving around providing economic opportunities, fighting rampant corruption, as well as improving public services."
"But unfortunately, the demands of these Iraqis, in our view, are still largely unmet," Javeto said.
And she added, "The responsibility now lies with the new government to take bold steps that help solve these problems."
Regarding strengthening the Kurdistan region's relationship with Baghdad within a unified federal Iraq, Javeto said, "The United States has long supported the principle of a unified federal Iraq. It is a firm American position that strengthens a strong Kurdistan region within a unified Iraq."
And she stressed, "This means that we support a strong government for the Kurdistan region that is part of a united federal Iraq that continues to play an important role for the future of Iraq within the privacy of the region's autonomy. There must be a strong healthy relationship between Erbil and Baghdad in accordance with the Iraqi constitution."
And Javeto spoke at the same time, about "the need to reach as soon as possible an agreement between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the legislation of the oil and gas law that governs the partnership between the two parties."
And she stressed, "Iran always exploits the differences between the region and Baghdad for its personal interests, and for this reason it tries in various ways to deepen the differences and prevent reaching understandings regarding the problems of disputed areas, oil and gas, or budget allocations."
Javeto added, "These differences do not only harm the region's position within a unified federal Iraq, but also harm all aspects of security and stability in Iraq and the region on a larger scale," calling on "Kurdish partisan parties to unite their relations with Baghdad."
