International efforts and high-level coordination to restore the looted Iraqi relics

A workshop was held at [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/94876/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AA%D8%AD%D9%81 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%82%D9%8A]the Iraqi Museum[/url] in Baghdad to coordinate international efforts to recover the looted Iraqi monuments.
"We are trying to recover many of the artifacts and we need all the domestic and international resources to work," Bruno Desslands, a maintenance engineer at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), told the workshop. "When an artifact is taken, we can document the fingerprint it leaves," said Desslands. "When we find a piece in Europe or somewhere that matches these characteristics, we can restore it."
The workshop was attended by Iraqi and foreign police, customs officials and archaeologists. It is the second workshop in two years organized by the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq.
Da'ad's organization had seized thousands of antiquities before being expelled from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] in 2017. Most of those remains are missing.
During its occupation of the country in 2014 and 2015, the organization raided and destroyed historic sites in what UNESCO described as a large-scale attack that used looting to finance its operations through a smuggling network that spanned the Middle East and beyond.
