The customs authority announced on Monday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs hidden in a food shipment in Bam Qasr al-Janoubi.

The authority said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, a copy of it, "The customs authority in the center of the southern Umm Qasr, managed on Monday or in cooperation with the customs police to seize a shipment of human medicine Egyptian origin was hidden inside boxes containing poetic material."

The agency added that "the owner of the truck claimed that his load of food (poetic) and after careful inspection by the Committee of the detection of the presence of various human medicines hidden under it without official approvals to evade payment of customs fees and subject the goods for laboratory tests.

The Authority pointed out that "its directorates and customs centers are conducting a large and wide campaign to limit the entry of goods and goods in violation of the regulations and instructions, especially those affecting the life and safety of citizens."
