Governor of Wasit, Mohammed Jamil al-Mayahi, said that more than 25 billion have been allocated to the establishment and maintenance of major roads in the province.
"We presented another service plan to the Wasit Governorate Council and voted for it," he said in a statement on Tuesday. "We focused heavily on road development in response to the appeals of parents and their repeated complaints about the roads. We allocated more than 25 billion to build major and illegal roads. And maintenance in public and rural roads through the Department of Roads and Bridges, and the establishment of an integrated effort to the road department includes an advanced asphalt plant and specialized mechanisms and operational budget.
Al-Mayahi explained: "This configuration is capable of immediate maintenance of roads and any place in the province, and the allocation of 4 billion for the rehabilitation of the road [Kut_Baghdad] is initiated in the coming weeks after the approval of the Ministry of Planning."
As for revenues, Al-Mayahi said: "We have devoted the greatest revenue from the border post to the development, rehabilitation and covering of many main roads, sub-roads and villages and rural roads."
