After a 22-year-old Iraqi air flights to Kuwait will resume Wednesday

    Date: Sunday, 17-02-13 07: 29 pm

    Baghdad-the citizen

    Ministry
of Transport announced Iraq, on Sunday, for the resumption of flights
to Kuwait next Wednesday, noting that it represents a new beginning for
the restoration of air links between the two countries after a hiatus of
    22 years.

    An
advisor to the Minister of Transport Karim Nouri that "Iraqi Airways
will resume flights to Kuwait through launching the first Iraqi plane
from Baghdad airport to the State of Kuwait," adding that "this step
will be a new beginning for relations back flights between the two
countries after a hiatus of 22 years" .

    He
predicted Nouri said that "going Iraqi Airways flights to Kuwait and
twice weekly to transport passengers to and from Kuwait and from all
Iraqi airports and by visitors," noting that "Kuwait was flies to Iraq
via Jazeera Airways, which is a private company Kuwait."

    It
is noteworthy that the British authorities detained, in (25 April
2010), an Iraqi aircraft coming from Baghdad to London after a stop for
flights between the two countries as long as 20 years, and was on board
30 passengers of Iraqis and foreigners, including former Transport
Minister Amer Abdul-Jabbar and director Airways Iraqi
Kifah Hassan, who was detained by the British judicial authorities,
because Kuwaiti claim for damages suffered by the aircraft by the Iraqi
invasion of Kuwait in 1990, demanding payment of one billion and 200
    million dollars for Kuwait Airways.

    And
demanded Kuwait Iraq since the invasion in 1990 to pay $ 1.2 billion,
in compensation for seizing 17 aircraft owned Kuwait Airways, and has
led this file to the political problems between Iraq and Kuwait
following the recent lawsuits against Iraqi Airways to freeze funds in
Jordan and Britain earlier this year 2010,
which led later to take the Iraqi cabinet decision in May of the same
year, the liquidation and cancellation company and offered for sale to
companies eligibility, also decided to also cancel all administrative
formations associated with them, while maintaining its staff after sold
    to a private company.

    The
Ministry of Transport announced Iraqi, December 20, dropping Kuwait all
proceedings against Iraqi Airways, noting that the agreement is a real
new beginning for Iraqi Airways to build a new air fleet.

    And
received and the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, the current December 13,
the first Boeing 777 aircraft out of the 45 contracted with the U.S.
Boeing Company, pointed to the arrival of three aircraft from Airbus. Iraq
seeks to develop its fleet of civil aircraft through contract with a
number of foreign companies competent in the aircraft industry after its
adoption previously Hire, where he signed in May 2008 in Baghdad, two
first with Boeing to buy 40 aircraft, and the second with Bompardo
    Canadian,
to buy ten aircraft, the Ministry of Finance showed that the total value of the two contracts amounted to five billion dollars.
