The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Thursday that it will complete 40 percent of its timetable for provincial elections scheduled for April 2020, stressing that four ministries are working on checking voter records in Kirkuk, The voter's card reached 75%.
"The Commission has so far completed about 40% of the timetable in preparation for the provincial council elections to be held in April next year," said the chairman of the Board of Commissioners Maan al-Hitawi.
He said that "the Commission has followed the legislation of the law to meet with the directors of the Commission and listened to them for two days in the province of Arbil to the latest preparations reached by the Commission for the elections."
He added that "the Commission will focus on completing the biometric registration of voters, and control logistics preparations after the provision of funds, law and time sufficient, as well as the intensive media campaign to attract voters and raise the participation rate, which will be the main concern of the Commission during the next phase."
