With the continuing crisis of demonstrations and the formation of the next government, the House of Representatives is busy discussing and approving the budget law next year, amid conflicting news regarding the expected deficit and ways to address it.
While informed sources said that the deficit is not known, the Parliamentary Finance Committee stated that the deficit reaches 48 trillion dinars.
Committee member Hanin Qadoo said, "There is a search for new financial resources to support the budget, which is estimated at more than 150 trillion dinars."
He pointed out that "the accumulated debts, as well as licensing rounds, pressure expenses and employee salaries will reduce the investment side of the budget."
He pointed out, "The existence of a financial deficit of approximately 48 trillion Iraqis in the budget for next year, which hinders the legislation of the law at the appointed time."
To that, informed sources said, "
The sources added, "Talking about the big deficit is merely guesses from some deputies and the deficit will be close to the past years, up to 25 trillion dinars, and there is a search for treatments for this problem, including increasing taxes on some imported products and activating the sectors of industry, agriculture and tourism."
