He added, "The new form of cooperation will be in a manner commensurate with the sovereignty of the country," noting that "the meeting is part of organizing a new relationship between the two parties based on Iraq benefiting to develop its security and military system."
He continued, "Iraq has an old treaty with (NATO) that has been going on since 2012, and we will rearrange it to ensure the benefit of the Iraqi security and armed forces," explaining that "there are several options open for dealing with NATO."
And between, "The Iraqi side will clarify its point of view and listen to the NATO side," stressing that "Iraq wants a multi-purpose relationship with the alliance, which includes training, support and many issues that will be discussed."
Khalaf stressed, "The form of cooperation with the alliance will be in a manner commensurate with the preservation of the country's sovereignty, and Iraq will be the owner of the issues of support and non-support issues, and the final decision will be for Iraq," stressing that "any activities inside Iraqi territory will be with direct Iraqi orders." He also stressed, "Iraq will not allow any unilateral action, nor will it allow any action in which the final decision is not for Iraq."
