A political source revealed, on Sunday, the nomination of three alternative university presidents for the Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zarfi.

The source said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "The Shiite forces nominated three academic personalities for the Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zorfi ."

Sure...Interesting how suddenly they can come to agreement within days after the choice has been taken out of their hands when they deliberately resisted choosing for a month...I say screw'em!

The Iraqi President, Barham Salih, commissioned the former governor of Najaf, Adnan Al-Zorfi, to form a new government after the failure of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, who was appointed before him, to gain the confidence of Parliament.

Despite the criticisms recorded against al-Zarfi, being "not an English-speaking speaker," and a former official in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, he has been, for the past 5 months, the closest to the voice of the demonstrators, as Sadrists had previously accused him of "standing behind the protesters' revolt in the street" .

His full name, Adnan Abdul Khudair Abbas Matar Al Zorfi, was born in "Najaf", January 1966, from Iraqi parents who are also from Najaf.

And his academic formation was religious in his entirety, at the University of Kufa, where he obtained a degree of "Bachelor" and "Master" and Doctorate, in the field of Islamic jurisprudence.

His political past began with the regular work inside the Dawa Party, which he joined in 1983, to enter a later stage between 1988 and 1991, as a life imprisonment prison in the "Abu Ghraib" prison.

But he did not complete this punishment, as he was fleeing from "Abu Ghraib", in February 1991, following the chaos that resulted from a "popular uprising", in Iraq, and he was the most prominent participant in it, and he was wounded three times.

By virtue of his security follow-up, after his participation in the uprising, Al-Zorfi emigrated to the United States of America between 1994 and 2003, assuming that he acquired American citizenship there.

In 2004, he returned to Iraq and established the "Iraqi Wafa Movement", as a political interface seeking to participate in political life, after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime.

The first position he held during 2004 was to become a member of the Iraqi Reconstruction Team, followed by his appointment as Najaf’s governor in 2005.

In 2006, he obtained the membership of the Najaf Provincial Council, and chaired the "Al-Wafa Bloc", for Najaf in the same year.

From 2006, he began holding security and consulting positions in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, where he held between 2006 and 2009 the position of Assistant Undersecretary for Intelligence Affairs at the Ministry of Interior.

In 2009, he returned to his previous position, as governor of Najaf, and continued there until 2015.

On his political stances, Adnan Al-Zarfi was known to defend Iraq’s independence from dependency abroad and to eliminate sectarian differences, which he says “does not define the basis of patriotism.”

Al-Zrafi is known for his defense of the idea that "the Iraqis are more and more the people of the Gulf region and the Middle East, with the luxury of their oil wealth."

I didn't know that...Thanks though I'm not sure about the Citizenship question. They are suspecting, which might be used to try to disqualify so I doubt that is the case, we have many folks from El Salvador for example living here for years without citizenship. He might have a green card though.
