Trump said his administration is seeking to withdraw US forces from Iraq as soon as possible

Trump said, "The American forces are in Iraq to confront any possible Iranian move, and we seek to withdraw as soon as possible," noting that "the United States has a limited number of forces in Iraq, and we look forward to the day when the need for our soldiers to remain there ends."
Trump added, "The United States has developed a relationship with this man (Al-Kazemi) and he will be strong for Iraq," while commenting on the repeated attacks against American interests.

Trump said, "At some point, it is clear that we will leave Iraq. We deal with the attacks easily. Nobody has the weapons that we have. When someone hits us, we hit him hard," stressing that "the American forces will leave Iraq if the country can defend itself."
The US President also touched upon the Turkish operations in northern Iraq, explaining that "the United States has good relations with the Turks," and said that he would "speak with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on this matter."
On the other hand, Trump said, "Washington is participating in many oil exploration projects in Iraq," referring to "discussions with Al-Kazemi on military issues and the development of the oil sector."
For his part, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, during the meeting, that "President Trump has made clear that he wants to make the number of American forces at the lowest level," indicating that "the Americans are working with their Iraqi counterparts to achieve this and this will be done within months."

Al-Kazemi welcomed US companies and investments in Iraq

In turn, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi said that "Baghdad welcomes US companies and investments in the country," while talking about developments between Iraq and Turkey and stressed that his country "will not allow Turkish intervention in Iraq," adding that this is "unacceptable."
He added, "The Iraqi constitution will not allow Iraq to be a springboard for threatening our neighbors, and the Turks will understand the conditions of Iraq."
After the meeting, Al-Kazemi and Trump chaired the expanded meeting of the Iraqi and American delegations, within the agenda of the visit, which the Iraqi government announced its extension for one day at the request of Washington.
Members of the Iraqi delegation indicated that the reason for the extension of the delegation's work in Washington is a meeting that will take place between Al-Kazemi and the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, on the morning of Saturday, August 22nd.
They also made it clear that the prime minister will visit Jordan, immediately after the United States, before returning to Iraq .
As part of his current visit to Washington, Al-Kazemi met with a number of members of the American Businessmen Forum and the American Chamber of Commerce, in the presence of US Energy Secretary Dan Proelt . .
During the meeting, Al-Kazemi pointed to the importance of sustainable strategic cooperation with the United States, and with American companies and banks, and stressed the government's willingness to remove all obstacles to the work of American companies in Iraq .
