    (Baghdad: Al Furat News) The meetings of the tenth session of the joint Iraqi-Syrian committee began in Baghdad today, Thursday, to discuss ways of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

    Trade Minister Alaa al-Jubouri and head of the Iraqi side in the joint committee said in a welcoming speech on the occasion of the start of the talks, "There is a great ambition on the part of the Iraqi government to make these discussions a turning point in the level of bilateral relations in various fields, especially economic, commercial, cultural and scientific fields
    ." Geographical, historical, cultural and social ties that are catalysts for building common economic spaces.
    He pointed out that "there are great points of understanding with the Syrians and points that need consultation and coordination in all fields, especially after the difficult stage that the two countries brought up, which requires the restoration of economic movement, which is an important factor in achieving economic development for both of them."
    Hoping that "these talks would achieve realistic and continuous results to achieve economic balance between the two countries and a new starting point for increasing the volume of trade exchanges and agreements in a manner that achieves their sovereign interests." 
    The Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Muhammad Samer al-Khalil and the head of the Syrian side affirmed that "these meetings achieve consolidation of bilateral relations, development of means of economic, commercial, technical, cultural and scientific cooperation, in addition to the completion of new agreements."
    It is worth noting that "the meetings of the joint bilateral committee, during which many files will be discussed in order to discuss the proposals and observations of the ministries and relevant authorities in both countries for the purpose of signing the second joint cooperation minutes as well as concluding a number of memoranda of understanding and bilateral cooperation programs in various fields on the sidelines."
