The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq will hold tripartite talks today, Friday, in Baghdad, before the upcoming summit between the leaders of the three countries.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said that the foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan, Sameh Shoukry and Ayman Al-Safadi, will arrive in Baghdad on Friday, and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein will receive them.
Al-Sahhaf added that the tripartite meeting at the ministerial level came within the framework of consultation and coordination before the summit meeting at the level of leaders in Baghdad.
Al-Sahaf explained that the tripartite coordination mechanism between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan is not directed against a party or axis at the regional level, but rather is within the framework of developing relations and a common market between these countries.
He pointed out that the economic file is important, especially that the Iraqi foreign policy consecrates the principle of multiple strategic partnerships and various economic circles.
According to Al-Sahhaf, the meeting will discuss the activation of the joint commercial zone between Iraq and Jordan, and discuss regional and international political issues, chiefly the issue of combating terrorism and exchanging information and security support.
It is likely that the summit will come out with exceptional outcomes of a strategic nature that reflects on common interests and strengthens attendance according to the appropriate mechanism.
He stressed the importance of coordination in order to raise the level of empowerment of citizens in the three countries within the strategic option, which is being worked on between the Arab trio, and that Baghdad is open on the same path to the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the neighbors of Iraq.
