    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Former member of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Saeed Mustafa, confirmed today, Sunday (May 26, 2024), that the region has handed over all its oil and non-oil financial revenues to the federal government, after the great controversy caused by the governorate allocation tables within the development of the regions in the 2024 budget.
Mustafa said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “there is a political campaign against the region, and Kurdistan did not take more than what it deserved in the 2024 budget.”
He added, "The Kurdistan region handed over all oil and non-oil revenues, including ports and taxes, to Baghdad," noting that "all institutions, projects, and salaries are paid from this budget, unlike the provinces, whose salaries are paid directly from the federal government."
He stated that "the Kurdistan region did not take anyone's rights, and it only wants what it deserves, and we hope that the campaign targeting the region's share will stop."
The regional development allocation tables within the 2024 budget sparked widespread controversy, as the allocations for all governorates in the 2024 budget decreased from 10 to 3 trillion, while Kurdistan’s allocations increased from 2 to 4 trillion, before the Ministry of Planning clarified the circumstances of the issue.
According to the Ministry of Planning’s clarification, Kurdistan’s allocations amounting to 4 trillion are allocations for the development of regions and total investment allocations, while the allocations for the governorates amounting to 3 trillion are only allocations for the development of regions, or investment allocations are made through the ministries and the share of the provinces amounts to more than 41 trillion dinars, compared to 4 trillion for the region. Just.
The Kurdistan government has become an isolated party in the region’s oil story, and dealings have become limited between Baghdad and oil companies operating in Kurdistan, as the region does not receive any shares of crude oil, and the Kurdistan Council of Ministers voted in its session weeks ago to deposit the federal treasury’s share in Baghdad of Non-oil revenues in Kurdistan, while Kurdistan will receive 20 trillion dinars, including employee salaries.
