Today, Monday, an expanded meeting was held at the Journalists Syndicate, headed by the Head of the Journalists Syndicate, Moayad Al-Lami, to discuss the Syndicate’s preparations for Press Day.
The union stated in a statement received by Mawazine News that “Al-Lami chaired an expanded meeting that included the two deputy heads of the union, members of the union council, the heads of the discipline and oversight committees, the heads of the union’s branches in the governorates, committee members, and the union’s staff to discuss preparations for the celebrations of the Iraqi National Press Day, which falls on June 15 of every year ".
She added, "At the beginning of the meeting, the President reviewed the efforts made by the Syndicate to achieve gains for the journalistic family, to hold distinguished celebrations on this national occasion as a result of the distinguished and active presence of the journalistic family."
The union quoted Al-Lami as saying, “This year’s celebrations include holding a central celebration in the presence of senior political officials, parliamentarians, diplomats, and important figures from outside Iraq, in addition to holding a meeting of the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Journalists in Baghdad on the sidelines of the celebrations. Public artistic and cultural celebrations will also be held in gardens and parks.” Baghdad contributes to organizing the union’s branches in the governorates.”
He stressed that "these celebrations will be an expression of the bright picture of stability, sophistication, development and prosperity that Iraq is witnessing, the major reconstruction campaigns launched by the government in all fields, and the achievements and gains achieved by Iraqi journalists."
