    Baghdad today - Diyala
Representative Murtada Al-Saadi warned today, Monday (May 27, 2024), of the return of sleeper terrorist cells as a result of the recent security breaches that occurred in Diyala, Salah al-Din, and Kirkuk governorates, while calling for attention to their danger.
Al-Saadi said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the violations that recently struck the provinces of Diyala, Kirkuk, and Salah al-Din, which led to the death of martyrs and wounded, produced serious indicators, most notably the activity of sleeper cells,” stressing “the importance of paying attention to their danger and activating the intelligence effort in the areas of voids and repositioning.” This contributes to controlling the land and prevents any activity of terrorist cells.”
He added, "The security situation in Iraq is stable, but sleeper cells remain a direct threat," calling for "adopting the principle of complementarity in terms of coordination between operational commands and ending any vacuums that lead to bloodshed."
He pointed out, "It is necessary to give a greater role to the intelligence effort because we are facing an information battle in the first place."
He stressed that "returning to square one in Iraq's security scene is a pipe dream," stressing "the need to beware of sleeper cells and seek to dismantle them through a direct intelligence effort."
It is noteworthy that a security source reported, last Saturday, that 8 members of the security forces were martyred and wounded in the explosion of two explosive devices southwest of Baquba.
The source told "Baghdad Today", "Two explosive devices exploded on a joint force of the Sahwa and the army near the village of Daoud al-Salem, 14 km southwest of Baqubah, within the borders of the Imam Muhammad al-Sakran district, which resulted in the martyrdom of two members of the Sahwa and the wounding of 6, including 3 members of the army." .
Earlier, a security source reported that four Iraqi army soldiers were injured when an explosive device exploded in Salah al-Din Governorate.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "An explosive device exploded on an Iraqi army military patrol near the village of Hafriya, east of Tuz Khurmatu District, east of Salah al-Din Governorate," noting that "the explosion led to the injury of four soldiers, including a critical condition."
