ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The US State Department said today, Friday, that the United States supports strong relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government.
"The strong relations between Erbil and Baghdad are in the interest of the United States," ministry spokesman Ned Price said in a press conference.
"It is for the benefit of the federal government and the regional government as well," Price added.
On the strategic dialogue between America and Iraq, Price said, "There are strategic commonalities between America and Iraq, and dialogue on these relations is in the interest of both sides.
This comes two days after the Iraqi parliament approved the 2021 budget, amounting to about 130 trillion Iraqi dinars (89.65 billion dollars).
Parliament voted among the budget items on the Kurdistan Region’s share of 12.67 percent, after disagreements and negotiations that spanned for many months.
The president of the region, the head of the regional government and President Masoud Barzani welcomed the approval of the budget, hoping that the approval will be the beginning of resolving all outstanding disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.
