Pavel Talabani: Approval of the budget is an important beginning for the convergence of the region and Baghdad
On Sunday, Pavel Talabani, the co-chair of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, received a high-level American delegation consisting of General John Taker, chief advisor of the US military forces in Iraq, and Rob Waller, the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, and their accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, which was attended by Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, official of the working body in the political bureau of the National Union, Aso Mamand, a member of the Political Bureau, and Jalal Sheikh Naji, head of the intelligence institution in the Peshmerga forces, the latest political, security and economic developments were discussed, and the two sides emphasized greater cooperation and coordination between the Kurdistan Region. And America, in order to provide stability and safety in the region.
During the meeting, Pavel Talabani referred to the issue of approving the general federal budget, declaring that the approval of the budget is a positive step and an important beginning for rapprochement and understanding between the Kurdistan Regional and Federal governments to address other outstanding problems and end disputes.
The second axis of the meeting discussed the movements of ISIS terrorist organizations, as the two sides confirmed that this terrorist organization has risks to the security and stability of the region. The close relations and coordination between the Peshmerga and America were described as the mission, and the visions agreed between the two sides that confronting the terrorist organization ISIS is everyone's responsibility and it is necessary to intensify our efforts for this issue.
In addition to the Kurdistan Regional Government's efforts to reform and train the Peshmerga forces, praise was given to the importance and necessity of the role of the United States, while the co-chair of the Patriotic Union called on the delegation to cooperate and coordinate more.
