Masjedi said, "Iran supports, in principle, the holding of elections as a manifestation of democracy and the rule of the people, and therefore it welcomes the upcoming Iraqi elections and supports the parliament and the government that these elections result."
He stressed that "Iran does not count positively or negatively on any party, and what is important to it is to successfully and efficiently conduct the elections in a way that serves the interests of the Iraqi people. He also described these elections as important and fateful because they came after many events on the Iraqi arena, such as the demonstrations and the arrival of Mustafa Al-Kazemi, who pledged to hold early elections." .
