Iran appoints Muhammad Al-Sadeq as new ambassador to Baghdad, succeeding Larij Masjedi
Shafaq News/ The Iranian government announced today, Monday, the nomination of a new ambassador to Iraq.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a press conference held today, that "Mohammed Al Sadiq has been appointed as the new ambassador to Iraq to succeed Larij Masjedi."
Khatibzadeh added that the new ambassador "will begin his work next week," adding at the same time that "Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein will visit Tehran within days."
According to press reports, "Mohammed Al Sadiq is one of the influential commanders in the Quds Force" of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
It is noteworthy that the former ambassador, Iraj Masjedi, began his work as an ambassador in Baghdad in April 2017, succeeding Hassan Danai-Far, both of whom are from the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards.
