The Ministry of Planning announced, on Thursday, a decrease in the per capita gross domestic product during the year 2020 compared to what it was during the previous year 2019, attributing this decrease to the decline in oil prices, which constitutes the largest percentage in the formation of the gross domestic product, in addition to the situation Economic downturn as a result of being affected by the Corona pandemic.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, said that the gross domestic product for the year 2020 amounted to (198) trillion and (700) billion dinars, which is less than what it reached in 2019, when it reached in the aforementioned year (277) trillion, and (800) billion dinars. Pointing out that the average per capita share of the gross domestic product for the year 2019 amounted to (7) million and (100) thousand dinars, but it decreased in the year 2020 to (4) million and (900) thousand dinars.
Al-Hindawi added that the process of calculating the gross domestic product is carried out in two ways, the first is the net production method (value added), where the GDP consists of production, minus the requirements, and the second method is the entry method based on the premise that all gross domestic product is distributed as rewards. Factors of production and allocations of extinction as a result of their contribution to the production process, including workers compensation, wages, salaries and benefits.
