The Supreme Judicial Council clarified, on Thursday, the requests for a re-investigation or trial.
A statement by the judiciary, which Mawazine News received a copy of, stated that “requests for a re-investigation or trial under the provisions of Article (9) of the Amnesty Law No. 27 of 2016 must be submitted to the Central Committee directly concerned with the application of the law and is not within the jurisdiction of the Office of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council or a court. Discrimination".
The statement added, "Receiving these requests, especially since the administrative procedures for receiving these requests require payment of a fee according to the law, and the authority that collects these fees is the aforementioned Central Committee."
And he added, "Therefore, it is necessary to note not to approach or review the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council or the Court of Cassation regarding these requests, especially after noticing the frequent promotion of these requests by some politicians and for electoral purposes, which burdens the administrative authorities at the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Federal Court of Cassation."
